Ember is all about the intensity of the blue.
From above, a deep area of cobalt cuts through the softer blues around it, with small flashes of cream and pale gold breaking through the surface. It was that contrast that caught me — the darker colour almost seems to glow against everything around it.
Then there are the tiny details. A scattering of birds becomes almost insignificant within the scale of the landscape, and the textures in the surface only really reveal themselves when you look closely.
I called it Ember because that concentrated patch of colour reminds me of something still burning beneath the surface — not red or orange as you might expect, but an ember of blue.
It is part of my Blue Awakening series, where colour becomes the landscape.
Interior Design Suggestions
Ember has more depth and contrast than some of the softer works in the Blue Awakening series, making it a strong feature piece.
The cobalt and cornflower blues would work beautifully with warm whites, pale timber, stone, soft grey and natural materials. The small areas of cream and warmth keep the image from feeling cold.
At a larger scale, I can see this working particularly well in contemporary living spaces, bedrooms, entrance areas and coastal interiors.
It would also translate beautifully into commercial spaces such as hotels, reception areas, wellness environments and corporate interiors.
As part of a group from Blue Awakening, Ember could provide the stronger blue anchor among the quieter, more ethereal works.
