Where tidal movement becomes colour and light dissolves into form.

Shifting Light, Shallow Water came from one of those flights where I was completely amazed by what I was seeing below me.

From above, the shallow water and sandbanks looked almost unbelievable. The colours kept changing — soft blues, pinks, mauves, creams and sandy golds — and every time the light shifted, something new appeared.

One moment I was looking at a channel of blue water, then suddenly I’d notice a soft sandbank, a little curve, or a patch of colour I hadn’t seen before. The water was so shallow, yet from the air it created the most beautiful patterns and movement.

That is what excited me about this series. It shows a landscape you could never fully understand from the ground. From above, it became colour, light and shape.
