Inbetween Tides

In Between Tides came from watching what happens when water moves across a landscape and then slowly retreats.

From above, I could see these wonderful curves, channels and fine lines appearing across the shallows. Water winds through pale sand and sediment, leaving behind traces of blue, soft gold and sometimes just the finest line of colour.

What really interested me was how temporary it all was. A changing tide could redraw the whole thing. Shapes joined, separated and disappeared. Areas that looked almost empty from the ground became full of detail when I looked straight down.

Colour was what first caught my attention, as it usually is, but I became just as fascinated by the movement. There are no hard boundaries here. Everything seems to flow into the next thing.

That is what In Between Tides is really about for me — those brief patterns created when water and land are constantly shifting around each other.

Each work is available individually, or the series can be collected together for larger spaces.
