Engineered Horizons

Where working landscapes become colour, line and shape from above.

Engineered Horizons came from flying over the salt fields and being amazed by how beautiful a working landscape could look from above.

On the ground, these places are practical. They are made for function. But from the air, everything changed. Roads, salt ponds, levees and dividing lines became blocks of colour, shape and pattern.

I loved that contrast. The straight lines were clearly made by people, but inside them the water, salt, minerals and light had created all these soft colours and textures — blues, greens, pinks, creams, golds and earthy browns.

That is what excited me most about this series. It showed me that even a highly practical landscape can become something completely unexpected when seen from a different perspective.

Each work is available individually, or the series can be collected together for larger spaces.
