Ancient Channels came from seeing water from above and realising how much of the landscape is shaped by movement.
Some of these channels were full and alive. Others looked like they had been carved by past rain, tide or flood. From the air, I could see the pathways clearly — rivers twisting through the land, small branches running out like veins, rain falling in the distance, and marks left behind where water had once moved through.
That is what excited me. These were not just rivers or wetlands. They were patterns of life. From above, the landscape suddenly showed me how everything was connected.
I loved the energy in these works — the twisting lines, the branching forms, the bright greens, the muddy water, the golds and earthy tones. Some felt dramatic and full of weather, others felt like quiet maps drawn across the land.
Ancient Channels is about the paths water makes through the landscape, and the extraordinary shapes, colours and patterns those paths reveal from the air.
